Police on Horseback
Quito, Ecuador
Parades are a common sight in Quito, and our neighbourhood park, Parque Carolina, was the final spot on many parade routes. Parades are so common that there is a permanent concrete grandstand in place for people to sit and watch parades. During this particular day, the parade was for Ecuador’s independence from Spain. Each year, Ecuador’s president attends this huge parade. As a result, the military and police were out in full force at this event. I grabbed my camera and mingled with the crowed during the parade. As a row of police on horseback approached me in the street, I stood my ground as they passed around me and captured this image.
